Tracking
Client-facing guide to domestic and international tracking in Helm.
Helm tracks supplier deliveries in China and international movement to Uganda. Tracking updates may come from 17track polling, 17track webhooks, cached tracking events, or manual team updates.
Domestic tracking
Domestic tracking numbers usually represent supplier deliveries to the China warehouse. A consignment can have multiple domestic shipments because a customer may buy from multiple suppliers.
Each domestic shipment can show:
- Tracking number.
- Carrier and carrier code when known.
- Supplier or order reference.
- Current status.
- Current location.
- Last update timestamp.
- Whether the tracking number has been registered with 17track.
International tracking
International movement begins after the forwarder dispatches the shipment and records the waybill or international tracking number. Helm then shows movement toward Uganda, arrival, customs handling, and handover status when available.
Why tracking can lag
Tracking can lag when a carrier has not published a scan, a tracking number has not yet been recognized by 17track, or a webhook is delayed. Helm uses cached tracking events to reduce external API calls and keep the last known status visible while fresh updates are fetched.
Status sync
Domestic shipment updates also sync back to Helm shipment status. When all domestic shipments arrive, the consignment can move forward in the operational workflow.
